Through recent regulatory updates published in 2022, the Ports of Paraná (APPA – Administração dos Portos de Paranaguá and Antonina) increased the Operational Drafts of some berths of the Port of Paranaguá and Ponta do FélixTerminal (Antonina).
Port of Paranaguá:
- Berth 205 (Ordinance 147/2022): dedicated mainly to loading bagged sugar. It now operates with a maximum draft of 12.00 m.
- Berths 206 and 207 (Ordinance 147/2022): dedicated mainly to the discharge of fertilizers and cereals. They now operate with a maximum draft of 12.00 m.
- Berths 216, 217 and 218 (Ordinance 148/2022): operated by TCP (Paranaguá Container Terminal) and dedicated mainly to the loading and discharge of containerized cargo. They now operate with a maximum draft of 13.00 m.
Ponta do Félix (Antonina):
- Berths 113 and 114 (Ordinance 111/2022): dedicated to loading and discharge of various agricultural products in bulk or bag. The ordinance reestablished the maximum draft of 8.50 m.
Despite the increase in Operational Drafts, their full use will only be possible after the completion of the demolition of Pedra da Palangana, a set of stones located in the Galheta Channel (main access to the port), and subsequent validation bythe Brazilian Navy and Port Authorities.
According to the Ports of Paraná, the maximum Operational Draft of the Galheta Channel is 12.50 m. The updated Operational Draft of the Channel is expected to be published in late 2022 or early 2023.
